About Catsnjammer

Sound & Performance Artist • Twitch Streamer • Electronic Cat Bard
I've been making music-adjacent sounds for over two decades. My current musical palette consists of violin, viola, guitar, voice and synths, which I use to create soundscapes and electronic music, most usually in the ambient sphere; donning cat masks and costumes as often as the scenario allows.
I have played viola in orchestras and string quartets, fiddle with local ceilidh band and border morris team, and sung with jazz combos and chamber choirs as well as solo work.
I've written music for various projects, including a one-hander play and a short film, and last year I exhibited my first piece in a local art gallery. I've also delivered soundscape workshops, aimed at artists who have little to no previous experience working with sound or music.
I started streaming on Twitch in January 2023, where I make improvised soundscapes to prompts given to me by my viewers. If you'd like to see how that all works, you can follow me here.
I have worked on various projects with other artists and performers, both online and off, including Bluebeany, Artlink Hull, and the Golden Shrimp Guild, the latter of which is also my Twitch team.

I am one half of The Confessional, a music and talking therapy project.
We create improvised and spontaneously composed soundscapes, and then invite members of the public to come and speak over them at our open mic.
We started out at Hull’s famous The New Adelphi Club, before moving to our current home base just round the corner at The Queens Hotel, and we take frequent excursions to other venues and art spaces.
Our aim is to let everyone have a chance to have their voice heard, whether it be through meticulously crafted poetry and prose, or an off the cuff and from the heart eruption of words, with the support and creative seed of our music.

I also co-host the Hull branch of EMOM (Electronic Music Open Mic).
We meet bimonthly at our new venue The People's Republic, after relocating from The Queens Hotel. It's always a brilliantly varied and endlessly inspiring event, with artists from across the spectrum of electronic music coming and performing some of the most original stuff you'll hear just about anywhere. I like to diversify.
Though my professional work is mostly based in my work as a musician and sound & performance artist, I have also performed live on numerous occasions as a community and semi-professional dancer. I've had the great privilege to work with such brilliant contemporary dance companies as Flexer & Sandiland, OKARUKAS Dance Theatre and several works with acclaimed Hull-based company Tamar & Jo, most recently their smash hit Sync Or Swim live at Hull's Freedom Festival in 2024.
